(Received September 22, at 1 p.m.) In the ‘ News of the World ’ tournament Alliss, in the presence of 2,000 spectators, decisively beat Cotton and Whitcombe. The semi-finals were played in a downpour. In the fourth round E. Whitcombe beat Hudson, 4 and 2; Alliss beat Cotton, 4 and 3; Compston beat Peters, 5 and 4; Seymour beat Green at the nineteenth. In the semi-finals Alliss beat Whitcombe, 4 and 3; Seymour beat Compston, 2 and 1.
