E, Galway ami his players have built up a reputation for the presentation of consistently good concerts, and Monday’s performance by _ the Royal Dunedin Male Choir at the Town Hall promises to bo up to standard. The New Zealand National Anthem will open the bill, and it will bo followed by the stirring ‘ Sailor’s Chorus,’ from Wagner’s opera ‘ The Flying Dutchman,’ and a tenor solo. ‘ Soft and Pure Fraught With Love,’ from ‘Marta’ (Flotow), by Mr John Kennedy, who is a singer of delightful quality. In memory of their late president, Sullivan's 1 Long Day (doses ’is to.he sung, and this promises to he a notjihle item. Another extract from Wagner’s work already mentioned, Senta’s ballad, ‘ Vo-ho-ho-hoo ’ will he the first offering of Miss Gaynor Paape, who will bo the lady soloist of the evening. A composition of Dr Thomas, of Auckland, new to Dunedin audiences, and a recent acquisition to the library, ‘ Hoar Us, 0 Heavenly Father,’ by the choir, will be succeeded by a violin solo by Miss Ethel "Wallace, 1 Rondo ’ (Mozart-Kreisler). The first part will be concluded with a scene from ‘ The Miracle ’ (Humperdinck), in which, with Dr Galway at the organ and Mr Alfred Walmslcy conducting, a choir of thirty ladies of the Grand Opera Chib will assist the choir, under the baton of Mr J. A. Haggitt (deputy conductor) . Mendelssohn's ‘ To the Sons of Art ’ will give a double quartet an opportunity to distinguish itself. Mr .), E. R. Renton will he heard in ‘ Though Faithless Men ’ and ‘ Jl Rigor,’ cavatina from ‘ ha Ehrca ’ (Halevy). The choir will sing the lovely folk song of the Hebrides, Sir Hugh Robertson's ‘To Myrrh a,’ and Miss Gaynor Paape will be heard in ‘ The Enchanted Forest’ (Montague ’Phillips). Miss Ethel Wallace will contribute a ‘ Spanish Banco ’ of Snrasate’s, and two sea chanties will complete the programme, the chantymen being Mr George Dunn and Mr J. A. Haggitt. The bos plans arc at Charles Rogg and Co.’s.
