WALTER ELLIS'S S.O.S.

STAGED BY REPERTORY SOCIETY Again last evening the Dunedin Repertory Society presented Walter Ellis’s dramatic play, ’ 5.0.5.,’ in His Majesty’s Theatre. A fairly large audience fully enjoyed the production, and applauded the performers, all of whom gave very creditable interpretations As Sir Julian Weir Mr Fred. Gair gave a very exacting study, and Mr Douglas Dali took full advantage of the opportunities offered by his role, while Miss Dorothy Clark was outstanding in the part of Sir Julian’s daughter Mr Wyrven De Clive Lowe distinguished himself in his role, and Miss Jean Lennox was excellent in a minor part. Mr Gordon Niven’s character work was very satisfying, and Mr. John Hayward’s country yokel was true to type. Miss Elsie Stephens, Miss Dorothy Scoular, Mr Alan Hart, and Mr Reynolds Herbert were also well cast, and were responsible for exacting performances. Mr Richard White is entitled to great credit for his work as producer. The musical items between the aots were supplied by an efficient orchestra, under the direction of Mr Terence MaunselL The play was repeated at a matinee this afternoon, and the final performance will be given to-night.
