DERANGED WOMAN SETS CLOTHING ON FIRE ■> [Per United Press Association.] PALMERSTON N., September 8. At the inquest ou Mrs Elizabeth Hansmann, a resident of Shannon, who died l in hospital following extensive burns, her husband gave evidence that deceased had been in ill-health for some time, and had threatened to set ; fire, to herself. On the morning of August 14 she , appeared normal, but before breakfast went out. Later she was seen running towards the house with her clothes in flames. ~ A constable said deceased made a statement in hospital that she had been depressed' and poured kerosene over her clothes and set fire to herself; but after making the statement, she was too ill to sign it. The verdict was that deceased died of burns self-inflicted while mentally deranged.
