BRITISH AGRICULTURE
HARASSED BY LOW PRICES EFFECT OF IMPORTED FOODSTUFFS Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright# LONDON, September S, (Received September 6. at noon.) A ‘ Sun ’ Service correspondent says; “ The Government departments are reexamining various economic reorganisation schemes and the encouragement of agriculture. The latter is importantly affecting Australia, because Britain is determined to press for further temporary restrictions on imported dairy produce, meat, and fruit to enable higher prices for agriculturalists. The present low prices are ruining hundreds of farmers. The Government will again convene a conference with the dominions’ representatives when the holidays are finished. There are considerable hopes here that the return of Mr Forbes and Mr Masters and Mr Baxter’s visit will contribute to moderating tho opinion of the New Zealand farmers.”
