WRESTLING

WALKER BEATS VARGA [Pek United Press Association.] AUCKLAND, September 4. A contest between Count Varga and George 'Walker ended in the fifth round in favour of Walker, who pinned his opponent following a back loop slam. This did not appear to be as heavy as the majority applied, hut it proved sufficient to keep Varga on the mat until after the two minutes’ interval had expired. As Varga did not rise at the gong, Walker was declared the winner. There wds loud cheering every time either man indulged in openhanded slapping, ear and hair pulling, and whenever Walker stamped upon his opponent’s bare feet.
