ANGLICAN, Anglican Club held its three-mile flat championship for the Soldiers’ Memorial Cup and sealed handicap at Logan Park, twenty-seven runners facing the starter, Mr TC 0. Johnson. At the gun W. Walker jumped out and made tho pace fast over the first two laps, being then displaced by T. Allen ; who steadied the field. At the beginning of tho fifth lap W. A. C. Pullar had run to tho front and led T. Allen, E. Taylor, and L. Waugh in that order, the first three sticking together for about three more laps. Then Pullar gradually increased his lead to win by 80yds from T. Allen, with L. Waugh third, well back. The winner’s time was 15min 11 4-ssec, which beat the existing club record by 37 l-ssec in probably the finest run put up in a club event for many years. Allen’s time, which was only 11 sec slower, was also a very fine run. Tho sealed handicap resulted; —A. Mercer 1, M. 2. The arrangements for the race were in tho capable hands of Messrs R. 0.-John-s i, it. A. Malone, C. R. Holmes, and A. L. Price. PACIFIC. The Pacific Club held their one-mile handicap race under unfavourable conditions. A strong north-east wind hindered the competitors for most of the journey. Tho course, starting from St. Kilda Bathing Pavilion, led along Victoria road to Forbury Racecourse, where a track was followed until Lovers’ Lane was reached. This was then followed back to the starting point. The limit man, J. Robertson, ran a good race to win by 10yds from R. James, C. Henry finishing close up third. The race was ably controlled by T. O’Connell and other officials. After the race a run was held for those who did not compote in the race.. The Whare Flat Championship of 220yds was run off yesterday under favourable conditions. A good field faced the starter, and went away to a good start. In a close finish last year’s champion, H. Barlow, who was third with half the distance covered, came away with a magnificent burst of speed to win by syds from S. Eustice, who tired over the last 50yds The official placmgs were;—H. Barlow 1, S. Eustice 2. and G. D. Donovan ,3. H. Barlow also won the quarter-mile walk handicap from scratch. After the races a cup was presented to the winner by C. Cuff. No times were taken. NORTHERN. Northern Club held its first sports at Logan Park under ideal conditions. Results:— 100 Yards.—First heat: Stephen 1, Armishaw 2, Howie 3; second heat: T. Harkness 1., Jefferson 2, Lothian 3. Final: Armishaw 1, Howie 2, Stephen 3. High Jump; T. Harkness and Armishaw (equal) 1, Wallace, Haugh, Stephen, and King (equal) 3. 440 Yards.—Lothian 1, Stephens 2, M'Kinlay and Haugh (equal) 3. ST. PATRICK’S. St. Patrick's ran from the Social Hall of the Holy Name Church," King street. Captain Lemon, with B. Brown, T. Robertson, and J. Paulks, had a solid run as far as St. Leonards and back. De-puty-captain Henderson led the slow pack over to Logan Park, the runners ascending the quarry face. The trail led downhill through the scrub on to the Port road. This was followed nearly, to Ravensbourne, those first homo in the final run back being N. Hall, A. Dyson, and O. Scott. The club members were later the guests of Mr M. Healy. CIVIL SERVICE. The above club held its first sports meeting at Hancock Park. Results:— Discus.—C. Ferguson (79ft lin) 1, P. Spence (72ft 9Ln) 2, S. Longwortb (70ft llin) 3. High Jump."—S. Longworth (sft lOin) 1, R. Spence (27ft 7in) 3. MORNINGTON. The Mornington Club’s run was from tho Anderson’s Bay School. The pack, which was controlled by the club captain (I. Chirnside), ran across country to Tomahawk and eventually finished upon tho beach, where a good game of football was engaged in as h change from the routine run. After the match the pack had a run along the beach and then back home by the'main road. In a good run Mullin, Hall, and Roxburgh finished in that order. ST. KILDA. Excellent weather favoured the St. Kilda Harriers for their weekly run, which was held from the George Street School, a fair number of members participating in an enjoyable afternoon’s outing. The trail was ably selected by G. Ross and J. H. Napier, and tho pack was in the capable bauds of Captain C. A. Pope and Deputy A. Brown. Tho pack set off up Duke street to tho Paper Mills and over tho Leith, up the track to the reservoir, where the trail met the Wakari road. This road was followed uphill for about a quarter of a mile, whore a turn across country was made, dense undergrowth being encountered on route. After negotiating this portion excellent grass tracks were followed, finally emerging on the Flagstaff road. From this point more and more cross country was indulged in, this being much appreejated by all concerned, eventually striking the Leith Valley road opposite the school. This heavily metalled road was followed to tho Woodhaugh Paper Mills, where tho run home was staged, A. Brown, A. Henry. 6. Benf'ell. and L. Anderson being prominent. The usual cry “ Keep behind the whistle ” was not very difficult to-day, as tho deputy-captain was always willing to show the rest of the members a clean pair of heels. LEITH. The Leith Club held its first sports meeting on the University Oval, Logan Park. Overhead conditions were ideal and the track was in great order, but a head wind had an adverse effect on tho times, particularly in tho 100yds and 220yc),s. Mr O’Neil! officiated as starter, and Mr Paterson acted as timekeeper. Results:— 100 Yards.—First beat: B. Timms 1, E. Ashby 2, E. Reid 3. Time, 10 4-5 sec, Second heat: L. Maher 1, F, O'Neill 2, S. Gibson, and G. M. Meggett officiated. CAVERSHAM. Tho last of the Caversham runs of the season was held from the Anderson’s Bay School. Tho main pack followed the whistle of J. A. Robertson over some excellent harrier country on the lower side of the Highcliff road until the Highcliff Cafe was reached. A further good stretch of open going was encountered on the run from there to the top of the hill overlooking Tomahawk Lagoon, and on that section many of the members took advantage of the good going to try out their hurdling capabilities on the numerous fences. The lagoon was skirted, find the trail led up the hill again to the top road, where a fast run home was started. Promintent among the back markers were H. Litoff and M. M'Kay. These two found the open going a little hard, but will, no doubt, be in good trim for the sports meeting a fortnight hence. Those members who intend starting in the marathon race bad a run down the Lower Portobello road to Macandrew Bay. CARGILL ROAD METHODISTS. The Cargill Road Club held its first sports meeting at St. Kilda. Results:— 100 Yards.—First heat: S. Wright (14yds) 1, P. Wellington (scr) 2, and I. Williamson (syds) 3. Second heat: M. M'Gregor (7yds) 1, J, Manley (10yds) 2, J. Guthrie (12yds) 3. Final: S. Wright 1, J. Manley 2, M. M'Gregor 3. 880 Yards.—E. Beecher 1, J. Rennie 2, and A. Lysaght 3. Long Jump.—-1. M'Gregor, with five points each—are leading for the aggregate cup. The events were controlled by Messrs Brown, Graves, and Fraser.
