AMATEUR BILLIARDS The Otago annual intcrclub billiards championship, which was won last year by the representative of the Roslyn Bowling Club, will be held this month, entries closing on September 11. The contest is for the shield presented by Billiards Limited, and is organised each year by the club which won the shield the previous year. The preliminary rounds are of 350 up, and the final of 500 up. It is reported that Mr C. Mason, of Dunedin, who won the New Zealand amateur billiards championship last year, will compete in the dominion championship at Christchurch this month. GOLF ST. LONDON, September 3. (Received September 4, at 10 a.m.) In the course of a great innings at Folkestone, Hammond became the first batsman of the 1933 season to exceed 3,000, ■which is also his own highest aggregate, a testimony to the remarkably fine season, abounding in fast wickets and outfields. Fourteen others have already exceeded 2,000 runs.
