PYJAMAS IN CATHEDRAL

MAHER OF WOMEN'S DRESS LONDON, August 23. The Dean of Canterbury Cathedral, Dr Hewlett Johnson, who suggested offering pox'tion of Australia to Japan, is tolerant on the subject of dress in church, says the ‘ News Chronicle.’ He does not object to women members of the congregation wearing pyjamas in Canterbury Cathedral. Ho says: “I do not think it indecent, although it is not beautiful. I will not object if the girls are modestly clad and eschew dress likely to attract attention —which is incompatible with a cathedral atmosphere.”
