BROOKLINE TOURNAMENT DOUBLES FINAL Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. NEW YORK, August 30. (Received August 31, at noon.) At Brooklyn to-day, in the final Lott and Stoeffen defeated Shields and Parker, 11-13, 9-7, 9-7, 6-3. MRS MOODY EXPLAINS THE SINGLES FINAL. SAN FRANCISCO, August 30. (Received August 31, at noon.) With the statement “ I don’t regret my action,” and an implication that she would like to meet Miss Jacobs under different conditions, Mrs Moody arrived home to-day. “As the match progressed,” she said, “ I had several dizzy spells. I felt as though I was about to faint. The thought of fainting seemed so silly, and I disliked causing a scene. The pain in my right leg grew intense. I knew what I should do, but I could not follow out my impulses as I should, so I just decided to stop playing. Under the same conditions I would do it again. I regret the unhappy ending. There is no feud between Miss Jacobs and myself. We have always had in common a mutual love of tennis. I think sh 6is a splendid competitor.” Mrs Moody said her injury pained her during the trip across the country. She had no intention of giving up the game, and hoped to be a competitor next season. LOTT’S KNEE INJURED CHESTNUT HILLS, August 30. Mr Wallis Myers, commenting on the match Lott v. Stoeffen and Quist-Turn-bull, says that Lott in the final game dislocated one of his knees, but managed to hobble about, and actually made the winning stroke.
