DEMANDED TO OAMABU. A Christchurch Association message stales that Albert James Birch field, aged twenty-eight, a labourer, was charged to-day with obtaining I'll from the Public Works Department at Waitaki by false pretences. He-was remanded to appear at Oainaru on September 5. ■ VITAL STATISTICS. The vital statistics for the Dunedin district during August are as follow, those for the same month of last year in parenthesis;— Births, 120 (121) ; deaths, 89 (81) : marriages. 15 (51).
CUSTOMS REVENUE. The revenue collected by the Customs at Dunedin during August. with collections for August, 1932, in parenthesis, is as follows:—Customs,. £48.686, IBs lid (£51.-181 Os 8d) ; beer. £17,629 16s 9d f £17.450 IBs (id) ; motor spirits. £11,623 17s 6d ( £11,042 7s) ; tyres, £313 Ss (£331 16s). The sales tax collection amounted to £16,023 16s 4d.
STOCK EXCHANGE. Sales reported' this afternoon; — Southland Frozen Meat (paid), £2 11s; Southland Frozen Meat (cont.), £1 5s 9d: N.Z. Paper Mills, £1 8s; King Solomon, 2s 6d.
