HEW BATTERSEA STATION FIRST PART NEARING COMPLETION, (British Official Wireless.) Press Association —By Telegraph—Copyright. RUGBY, August 28. Tho first part of the great new power station at Battersea, London, designed to have power of 400,000 to _ 500,000 kilowatts, is expected to bo finished in time to begin operations before the end of the year. It is built on a fifteenacro site on the south bank of tho Thames, and is the only station of its kind in which nitrate of sulphur eliminating apparatus has been installed. This was evolved after large-scale experiments by chemists and engineers, and was expected to prevent tho pollution of London air. Tho apparatus satisfied the Government chemists of its efficiency.
