Sharpshooters have been posted at various points, and auxiliary police are being enrolled in Vienna. ENROLMENT OF POLICE BRITAIN’S ATTITUDE. LONDON, August 29. (Received August 30, at noon.) Under the Versailles Treaty it is permissible for Austria to enrol 8,000 police temporarily for one year. Britain repudiates Germany’s allegations that enrolment constitutes conscription. Austrian Socialists condemn the recruitment of auxiliaries and are summoning protest meetings.
