Industrial activity in the United kingdom in the second quarter of the present .year, as estimated from particulars furnished from various sources to the Board of. Trade, was 1.2 per cent, greater than in the first quaiter of this year and 1.7 per cent, greater than in the second quarter of last year. An increase of 18 per cent, was recorded in the iron and steel group, 12 per cent, in the non-ferrous metals group, and 11 per cent, in the leather and footwear group.
