HRS R. S. BLACK'S COLOURS ON TOP OTHER OUEEH FLAGS UNCHANGED Once again the emblem of the Cinema Queen (Mrs R. S. Black) has assumed the leading position on the flag pole on the Town Hall, Miss Billie Mitchell’s pennant, which has been at the top of the staff practically throughout the contest, having been relegated to second S’ ace. The Sports Queen (Mrs Richard udson) and the Services Queen (Mrs Norah Ross) still remain in the third and fourth places respectively. The positions of the flags at noon were:—

ORGANISATIONAL WORK A meeting of the Central Executive of the Queen Carnival was held last evening, Mr J. J. Marlow presiding. The organising secretary reported that he had been in touch with the various queen committees, and a number of matters had been satisfactorily adjusted. It was resolved to ask the secretaries of the various committees to supply the organising secretary with a list of the entertainments and engagements arranged by them so that these might be announced through the newspaper!. A suggestion that the Executive Committee and the Special Committee should meet on Tuesday afternoon next for the purpose of discussing the arrangements for the final night’s demonstration and the coronation ceremony was adopted. . It was reported that the street collection held last Friday, apart from the money received from the sale ox tickets, etc., amounted to £9O 10s. A further resolution that no sales of produce or any goods except tickets*, badges and other emblems be permitted at any of the queen committee display shops ” was also carried. CIVIC QUEEN Under the civic queen’s list of attractions for the immediate future is the smoke concert in the Concert Chamber to-morrow night and the ribbon parade for dogs, tug-of-war, and other novelties in Brydone Hall on Tuesday evening next. SPORTS QUEEN The mad hatters’ dance on Saturday at the Town Hall will be the feature of the week as far as the sports queen is concerned, and already indications point to the fact that it will be one of the most successful functions yet held. The idea of the mad bats has intrigued the minds of the public, and the parade will be something unusual. Tickets are procurable from the George street depot, the Otago Sports Depot, Strang s, Jacobs’s, and the D.I.C. Tickets for the gallery are also procurable at the D.I.C. Particulars are advertised. SERVICES BALL STRIKING DECORATIONS. During the past few weeks the Dunedin dancing public has seen some effective decorative schemes in connection with the big balls held, but the plans which the Queen Ball Committee are carrying into effect in connection with their forthcoming function promise considerable surprise and pleasure for their patrons. To heighten the element of surprise the committee is maintaining considerable secrecy as to the exact nature of the scheme, but the public are assured that something genuinely original is being effected. That the evening is one that will long remain stamped on the memory of all present is certain. The brilliant spectacle bf the dress uniforms of the various arms and services in a background of the solid service khaki and intermingling with the colourful nature of the ladies’ frocks will ever be popular with the gallery, whilst the attractions of good music, good floor, and good supper arrangements will entice all lovers of the ball,' Fifty-nine players will supply the music, Schofield’s New Collegians being engaged to render popular modern numbers and the military band of the Ist Battalion Otago Regiment supplying the old waltzes and square dances. A poster parade will be held, and several historical tableaux will be staged. An interesting feature of the evening will be a competition in which both the dancers and the lookers-on from the gallery will particiPate ’ CHILDREN’S PARTY. A jolly party for children has been arranged by the Services Queen Committee to be held in the Coronation Hall, St. Kilda, on Thursday nest, when games, refreshments, music, and other attractions which should appeal to juvenile tastes will be provided. AMUSEMENT PARK. The Services Queen Committee is carrying on the amusement park m the basement of the Town Hall on Thursday and Friday evenings as usual. In the meantime the civic queen supporters have ceased their activities in tins direction.
