FOOTBALLER'S DEATH
LOSS TO THE KANGAROOS LONDON, August 15. At a luncheon tendered to the Australian Rugby League team (the Kangaroos) by the management of Wembley Stadium, it was stated by the managers to bo the unanimous wish that no one be sent from Australia to replace Ilav Morris, the team preferring to regard his tragic death at Malta as an inspiration to greater deeds. All present stood silent for a minute. The news of Morris’s death had reached the Jervis Bay by radio during the celebration of trank _ Neumann’s birthday, and the presentation of prizes for ship sports. It damped the spirits of the 500 passengers, Morris had been popular with all, being especially admired for his leadership of the Kangaroos’ physical drill before his ear trouble developed. Captain Cowlnnd, who was returning from Church Army work in Australia, held a memorial serrico in the dining saloon, which was crowded with members of the team ami passengers. The team managers wirelessed to Malta and arranged for the body to be embalmed in readiness ior despatch to Australia by the Hobson’s Bay,
