GREEN ISLAND SCHOOL

ANNUAL MEETING OF ASSOCIATION There was a good attendance of members at tlio seventh annual meeting of the Green Island School Association, which was Infld last night. The annual report stated that during the year no reunion had been held, and as the statement of accounts showed few subscriptions had been collected. However, the year closed with a balance of £34 11s fid in hand—£l Is 3d in excess of the balance in hand at the commencement. As October next marked the eightieth anniversary of the opening of the first school at the Chech Island Bush, and the fiftieth anniversary of the opening of the present school, the committee hoped to hold a special reunion to celebrate the occasion. The committee recorded with regret the names of the following cxpupils who had been called away by death since the last report:—John S. .Kennedy, Margaret Blackley (neo Leal), and William Howden, Mr Kennedy was a dnx of the school, clerk of the" school for some time, and town clerk. The thanks of the association wore duo to Mr James Russell, who had attended the meetings of the school committee during the year. The dnx medals for 1932 wore provided by the association. A permanent now fence had been erected around the commemorative oak tree which was planted on the second site of the school (namely, in the section next the Presbyterian manse), and it was the intention of the committee to have an information board affixed, to the railing. The committee hoped that as a result of the forthcoming celebrations the interest taken by the I ox-pupils in the old school would bo 'stimulated to a greater extent. The report was adopted. The following office-bearers were elected President, Mr W. 'l’. Smell jo; vice-presidents—Airs Woolsey, Miss M. Mills, Miss Irvine, Messrs T. G- I omkins, W. A. Miller, E. A. Howard J. Nelson, A. Kane, W. Brown, and i. M'Alian; honorary secretary, Mr A. M. Love; assistant secretary. Mr J. Russell; honorary treasurer, Mr J. A. Lindsay; honorary auditor, Mr \\. A.. Miller; committee—Messrs h. Wright. W. Findlay, Mrs W. T. Misses 1. Campbell, M. Kirkland, J. Mi lor, J. Nelson, M. Adam, and E. Johnston.
