A definite promise of taxation relief in this year’s Budget was given by Sir George Pearce in tho Senate. He said the whole field of taxation would be reviewed in tho foroticoir.mg Budget to see in what manner the greatest relief could be given.

STATEMENT BY PREMIER,
MELBODRNE, June 9, (Received June 9, at 10.5 a.m.)
A definite promise that there would, bo a reduction in the unemployment relief tax at an early date was made by the P.remier of New South Wales (Mr Stevens) at the Loan Council meeting. He would not, however, indicate the probable extent of the reduction or the probable date of its commencement.
