MEETING OF EXECUTIVE [Per United Press Association.] CHRISTCHURCH, June S, The wharfage on cars at Ricton am! tho freight charges for shipping them from Pictoii to Wellington were dis cussed at a meeting of the executive of tho South Island Motor Union tonight. Mr Mackley, General Manager of Railways, wrote stating that the Rail ways Board could not reduce tin wharfage charges for ears at Picton The Union Steam Ship Compan wrote stating that it- was investigatin tho possibility of reducing the freigh charges for ears between Picton ar Blenheim. Tho letter was received members remarking that it sounde more hopeful than some previous 1c ters. It was decided to refer the lcters to the Canterbury Automobi Association with the request that . should seek the aid of the Canterbur, Chamber of Commerce and the Mote, Traders’ Association.
Tim Marlborough Automobile As sociation wrote endorsing the action taken by the Christchurch motorists, informing the New Zealand Ante mobile Association Incorporated tha the association thought that it was in the interests of all and associa tions that the Executive Committee should be given power to take such steps as were deemed desirable to combat any action by the Auckland Automobile Association that might ho subversive of the interests of the North and South Island Motor Unions. All affiliated, bodies in the South Island have now written endorsing the action of the Motor Union.
