£971 TAKEN [Per United Press Association.] . AUCKLAND, January 26. William George Norman Hutchison, a clerk, aged twenty-eight, pleaded guilty -this morning to ten charges of stealing sums totalling £971 belonging to the Transport Board, by which he was formerly employed. It was stated in evidence that accused disclosed his defalcations to the accountant, and gave the fullest assistance to the police. For months he had been duplicating cheques, mostly for the suras of £l, £2, and £5, representing relief wage tax payments, subsequently cashing tho cheques. Accused pleaded guilty and was committed for sentence. He was admitted to bail in £250.
