LONDON WOOL SALES. MERINO CROSS-BRED TIP, Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, January 25. (Received January 26, at 11.40 a.m.) At the wool sales 9,326 bales were offered, including 3,261 from New Zealand. Approximately • 7,649 bales were sold. There was strong general competition. Fine merino cross-breds arc now 5 per cent, above the opening rates. New Zealand scoured merino, “ H. H. Oxford,” top 17d, average 16)d; greasv cross-bred, “ Hunthill,” 91 d and 7|d. “ Messrs Murray, Roberts, and Co. Ltd., have received the following wool market cable from their London agents (Messrs Sanderson, Murray, and Eldei Ltd.), dated 25th inst.: —Sales continue with good tone, competition keen and general. Greasy merino, medium to good; opening rates are barely maintained. Gross-brcd greasy medium, opening rates are barely maintained; cross-bred greasy coarse, opening rates are barely maintained. Sydney brokers report that the average price of the week’s sales was £ll 14s 5d per bale, or 9d per lb. SALES ON ’CHANGE: THIS DAY. Christchurch. —Bank of New Zealand, 43s 6d; Mount Lycll, 21s 2d; N.Z. Drug Co., 56s Id (6), 56s (2); Nokomai, 5s 9d (3). Sales reported: N.Z. Government 4i per cent.
