A severe earthquake _ shook the west from Rawlins (Wyoming) to Longbeach (California) on Tuesday night, but the damage was confined to broken windows and crockery. The shake stopped clocks in most places, but no injuries have been reported. The shock rocked the entire State of Nevada, and at Gerlach a large water tower was knocked down. Reno was also sharply shaken, and the walls of the Californian State Capitol at Sacramento creaked and rattled. RIVERVIEW'S REPORT SYDNEY, December 22. (Received December 22, at 2 p.m.) The Riverview Observatory stated that quite a severe shock was recorded at 4.30. Tlie waves came in some hours afterwards.
