PASSION PLAY VILLAGE
MAY BECOME HEALTH RESORT MUNICH, December 8. A plan to turn Oberammergau, the Bavarian village world famous for its Passion Plays, into a modern health resort, is being favourably considered by officials responsible for the welfare of the peasant inhabitants. Gorman bankers are, it is understood, backing the plan. They are said to be willing to spend £75,000 on the erection of a kursaal and spa Ivotcl. The harvests this year have been a failure, and the village is bankrupt. The authorities are therefore in favour of the plan, as it will provide employment for tiro idle Passion players. The plan must, however, lie approved by all the villagers. There arc many who vigorously oppose it.;
