The annual Christmas treat given btf the Valley True Blue Lodge to thei children of members took place recently. As usual, the hall was packed to capacity, there being about 200 boys and girls present. W.M. Bro. A. SBarrett welcomed all to the gathering, and then handed the entertaining of the children to the Social CommitteeGreetings were extended by the W.M* of the South Dunedin juveniles to the Valley True Blue juveniles, and these were responded to by W.M. Bro. NWilliams, A well-known past master) of the lodge arrived as Father Christ* mas, and to the joy of all the boys and girls handed out presents from hia many well-filled barrels. Various_ com* petitions were held, the winners being:—Boys under 10, G. Booth and R. White: boys over 10, H. Strang and G. Fleury; girls under 10, A* Jamieson and E. Curtis; girls over 10* M. Jamieson and N. Graves. Aunt Sally ”; Boys—R. Burns and G* Fleury; girls—D. Gilchrist, W. King* E. Beattie, and R. Beattie. Walk-ing-Stick ” : Jack Drake and Phyllis? Wood. “Roll Down”: G. Gould. Enjoy able items were Tendered by Sistep Henderson and Miss Brown. Supper, was also provided by the lodge. ' AJ special vote of thanks was accorded tha Social Committee. _ The members and friends of the? Triumph Lodge Christmas treat to the. children .took .place in the Town Hall* South Dunedin. The W.M., Bro. W* O’Neill, on behalf of- the lodge, welcomed all to the party. There wera about 250 boys and girls and about? 150 adults present. The following programme was carried out:—Melodies byj flie Lodge Jazz Band (conductor, Bro* R. D. Bachop); songs by Miss Heather Douglas; lighting candle race; danca by Misses South., and Scott; peanut race for girls; “ Micky the Mouse, by) Miss L. Stevens’s pupils (Otago Schooli of Dancing); Highland,dance by Master Harle- Father Christmas presented to each boy and *girl a present from his well-stocked tree. Chief-steward. Bro. A. Hodges and his band of assistants served supper, which _ was provided by the lodge. A special vote off thanks was accorded the Social Committee. An enjoyable danca followed for the adults. ... . ~ The quarterly meeting of the Triumph? Lodge was held in the Kensington Lodge Hall, the W.M., Bro. Wv O’Neill presiding over a large attmidance of members and visitors. The R.W-G.M.* Bro. Devlin, and his executive officers were admitted and welcomed. One candidate was initiated .the ceremony being conducted by the s W.M., assisted byj P.M. Bros. Barr, Hellyer, and PerrmJ and one juvenile.member was proposed for the adult lodge. The election ofl officers for the year resulted:—W.M.* Bro. G. Perrin; D.M., Bro. Jas. WeirJ chaplain, P.M. Bro. Barr; secretary* Bro. R. D. Bachop; treasurer, BroJas. Robb, P.M.; assistant secretaryBro. Sincock, P.M.; senior elder. Sister; Black; junior elder. Sister Hewitt $ T.M. guard, Bro. Mathews; auditors,, P.M.s Bros. Barr and Sincock; Finance! Committee—Bros. Hellyer,-O’Neill, and, William Robb; chief steward. P.M* Bro. Albert Hodges. The W.M., Bro„ O’Neill, thanked the members for theiiv support during his year of office. A" vote of thanks to the visitors was re-; sponded to by W.G.M, Bro. Devlin (on!, behalf of the G.C.). P.M. Bro. Lind-3 say (No. 41), Sister Bennett (No. 11),, Bro. Millow (Star of Southland). Thai W.M. then conveyed the season’s greetings to all.
