IRISH GOVERNOR-GENERAL

TITLE OF SENESCHAL

NO USE OF VICE-REGAL HOUSE,

LONDON, December 1. , Mr Doual Buckley, who succeeded Mr James M'Neill as Governor-General of the Irish Free State, will not be known by that title, but as “ Seneschal,” says the Dublin correspondent of ‘ The Times.’ This is an old French title for minor functionaries under a monarch, and hitherto has not been used in Ireland. Mr Buckley has decided not to occupy the Vice-Regal house, but will live in a modest residence on the outskirts of Dublin.
