MONTHLY MEETING The monthly meeting of the committee of the Plunket Society was held yesterday, when there were present:—Mesdames J. A. Johnstone (in the chair), Garth Gallawny, Mandeno, Sandford, Cox, W. Wilson, T. Brown, Williams, D. Reid, Cunninghame, Cleghoru, Taverner, Watson, and Cairuey. Miss Oppenhoim’s resignation from the committee was received with regret. Mosdames Watson, Cleghoru, and Cunninghame were appointed as the Visiting Committee to visit the Kari-tane-Harris Hospital on November 2, and Mesdames Cox and Mandeno and a member of the executive were appointed as the Visiting Committee to visit the hospital on November 24^ The matron of the Karitane-Harns Hospital reported as follows lor the month ended September 30; —-Patients admitted —mothers 12, babies 24; patients discharged—mothers 13, babies 23. With a total of 36 admissions and of 36 discharges the month has been an enjoyable and a busy one. Light premature babies (including two sets of twins) were admitted, their weights varying from three to four pounds. Of these, six are still in hospital, and so far are making satisfactory progress. Visitors for the month numbered 336. Patients were admitted from Riverton, Waitahuna, Tapanui, Mosgiel, Kurow, and from Dunedin and suburbs. The Plunket nurses for North and Central Dunedin districts reported for the month:—Babies on the list, 771; older children on the list, 276; new cases for the month (babies only), 34; tobies breast-fed (including partly) now cases, 32; visits paid to homes, 507; visits paid to Phmkct Booms: Stuart street—mothers 263, babies 201, older children 59; Mornington—mothers 86, babies 78, older children 17; Boslyn —mothers 87, babies 75, older children 22; North-east Valley—mothers 136, babies 120, older children 42; KelseyYaralla Kindgarten—mothers 111, babies 94, older children 17; Macandrew JJtiy—mothers 24, babies 23, older childrew 3. Bottles of humanised milk sent out from flic Taicri and Peninsula Dairy, 1,508. The Plunket nurse for South Dunedin reported for the month:—Babies on the list, 426; older children on the list, 31; new cases for the month (babies only), 14; babies breast-fed (including partly) new cases, 12; visits paid to homes, 262; visits paid to Plunket Rooms, 315 King Edward street, South Dunedin —mothers 254, babies 237, older children 40. The Plunket nurse for Caversham district and out-stations (north line) reported for the month; —Babies on the list, 390; new eases for the month (babies only), 15; babies breast-fed (including partly), new cases,_ 13; visits paid to homes, 180; visits paid to Plunket Rooms, Stuart street —mothers 45, babies 40, older children 10; Caversham —mothers 204, babies ISO, older children 27 ; Port Chalmers —mothers 64, babies 49, older children 23 ; visits paid to out-stations —Port Chalmers 4, B>t. Leonards 4, Burkes 4, Ravensbourne 5. The PluuKet nurse for Anderson’s Bay district and out-stations (south line) reported for the month :—Babies on the list, 320; older children on the list, 65: new cases for the month (babies only), 10; babies breast-fed (including partly) new cases, 9; visits paid to Plunket Rooms, Stuart street —mothers 9, babies 4, older children 6; Anderson s Bay-—mothers 109, babies 101, older children 26; Mosgiel—mothers 72, babies 50, older children 26; Green Island—mothers 17, babies 14, older children 1. Visits paid to homes —Anderson’s Bay 82, Mosgiel 41, Green Tsland-Abhotsford 52, Visits paid to out-stations —Mosgiel 9, Abbotsford 5, Green Island 5, Burnside 4. . . The Plunket nurse for Outram district reported for the month :—Babies on the list. 63; new cases for the month, 2 (breast-fed) ; visits to homos. 7 ; visits paid to rooms—mothers 12, babies 11, older children, 1. Three visits were paid to Outram. The reports were adopted.
