MGSGIEL DISTRICT HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS SOME FINE PERFORMANCES The annual sports meeting of the Mosgiel District High School was held on the Recreation Ground on Thursday under ideal weather conditions. Great interest was displayed in the championships, which were keenly contested, and special mention must be made of the performances of Allen Bryant, who annexed both the M‘Cnnn and Livingstone Cups for the senior championship and the Gordon Cup for the mile championship. James Gilchrist was runnerup in the senior championship. Both the senior milo and half-mile were won by Bryant by inches after exciting struggles with Can-. Ray M'Cunn put up a fine performance in the high jump, creating a record of oft 2in, and in the long jump one of ISft lOin. He also won the Murray Cup for the senior field events. The Cheyne Cup for the junior championship goes to Seaton M'Cartney, with Fergus Murray as runner-up. The girls’ senior championship, with the gold medal presented by Mr L. B. Borrow, was won by Eileen Murray, with lona Black and Marjorie Bowler as runners-up. The junior championship and 'silver medal presented by Mr A. S. At a meeting of the Sports Committee of the Otago Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic and Cycling Association last night it was decided to hold an evening sports meeting at the Caledonian Ground on Monday, October 31, at 6 o’clock. The following programme has been arranged : Long jump handicap, shot putting handicap, 100yds handicap, 600yds handicap, mile medley relay handicap, ladies’ 100yds handicap, half-mile cycle handicap,' and two-mile cycle handicap. The first evening meeting of the season will be held by the University Chib at Logan Park next Wednesday.
