Mr W est, who has been among Hollywood’s foremost producers fo f thirteen years, has spared no effort in , his attempt to make this one of tho hr tit films of its kind ever produced. The acting of the cast leaves nothing to be desired, the principal role being capably tilled by Chester _ Morris, who appeal's as an all-American football hnlf-back, who starts his business career i n Wall Street only to encounter the iruthlcssncss of a certain financier. In order to circumvent the powerful multimillionaire lie turns to modern piracy on the Californa coast and thus not only brings him to his knees, but wins his arrogant daughter. ‘ The Wickham .Mystery,’ which will also be shown, is a British picture, and has all tlie ingredients of a thriller, an exciting car cha-c, a man-to-man encounter, a heroire left to drown as the tide rises higher, and a dog which saves the situation in the last second of time. Eve Ora; and John Longden figure in the leading roles, and are supported by othet well-known British players.
