CALLOUS MOTORISTS.

TO THE EDITOR.

Sir, —I read with interest of the callous motorist who ran over a dog and never stopped to see what pain and agony the poor animal suffered. But a great many are just as careless and callous when human life is concerned. Many elderly people have to cross our streets, some of whom are deaf. The callous motorists come on silently and swiftly; some sound their horns when they are right on top of you or nearly so; some give absolutely no warning at all. The marvel is that there have not been more accidents. Special police ought tp be on the watch, and drastic fines inflicted when a motor driver does not sound his horn at least 50yds before crossing. Hoping some vigorous action will be taken, also again bicyclists scorching through the main streets with no bells on their cycles and no warning of their approach,—l am, etc.. Elderly Pedestrian. October 11.
