Wilson said that as “ father of the association,” ho wished to thank Mr_ Styche for the interest he had taken, in. placing rowing in Otago on a sound’ footing. Mr Styche, in reply, modestly -remarked that all he had ever done had been through his love for the sport.The association decided, after asking Mr Styche to retire, that, as he would never accept any monetary recognition of the association’s appreciation) a suitable present be purchased, engraved, and handed to him. Port Chalmers has lost another of its old and respected citizens in the death of Mr John Hart, whose funeral; took place to-day. His has been a familiar figure on the waterfront since the days when sailing ships carried the wool crop to London, and was ever a quiet and reliable worker, whose genial presence will be missed at Port Chalmers.Mr James Fletcher will arrive in Dunedin from Auckland this evening.-
