[Colonel Sir Percy Girouard entered the Army in 1888. Ho served in the Dongola Expeditionary Force in 1896. and the Nile Expedition 1897. He was railway traffic manager at Woolwich Arsenal from 1890 to 1895, director of the Soudan railway from 1896 to 1898, president of the Egyptian Railway Board from 1898 to 1899, Director of Railways, South Africa, from 1899 to 1902.' He was High Commissioner of the Protectorate of Northern Nigeria from 1908 to 1909 and Governor and Com-mander-in-chief of the East Africa Protectorate, 1902 to 1912, and DirectorGeneral of Munitions Supply, 1915.]
