SEQUEL TO ‘SKIPPY' FOR OCTAGON
DELIGHTFUL PROGRAMME ON FRIDAY ‘ Sooky,’ Paramount’s sequel to that very popular film, ‘ Skippy,’ will start at the Uctagon Theatre on Friday, together with ‘ The Broken Wing,’ a romantic thriller of the air. Jackie Cooper is a big star, despite his youth. He is as much at home in emotional drama as he is in comedy. Ho is extremely popular since his great success in ‘ Skippy ’ and ‘ The Champ.’ ‘ Skippy ’ made another juvenile star in addition to Jackie Cooper—Jackie Coogan’s “ kid ” brother, Robert Coogan, who accomplishes an amazing piece of work as Sooky. Young Coogan is living up to a great name. He bears a strong resemblance to the Jackie Coogan of ‘ The Kid.’ Ho has the same quality of pathos—the same welldeveloped sense of comedy—that made Jackie Coogan an international favourite. Leo Carrillo, famous stage star who toured Australia last year in 4 Lombardi Ltd., is the star in 1 The Broken Wing,’ As the swaggering bandit who holds captive the aviator forced down near his camp, Carrillo joins Lupe Yelcz, Melvyn Douglas, and George Barbier, who have featured roles in this production. Noted for his work in dialect characterisations, Carrillo has been a stage star for many years, his biggest hit having been in ‘ Lombardi Ltd.’ He recently entered talking films and has not long completed the “ bad man ” role opposite Dolores Del Rio in 4 The- Dove.’ Preceding this work were parts in ‘ Hell Bound,’ ‘The Homicide Squad,’ ‘The Guilty Generation,’ and ‘ Lasca of the Rio Grande.’
