TAIERI RIVER TRUST

SPECIAL MEETING A special meeting of the Taieri River Trust was held yesterday. All members were present, Cr T. M. Ball presiding. The resignation of Cr Walter Blackia —one of the Government representatives on the trust—was received. In moving that the resignation be accepted, the chairman • (Cr Ball)' stated that it was through failing health that Mr Blackie had found it necessary to resign. As chairman, ha moved with deep regret that the resignation be accepted. In doing sa ho referred to the fact that Mr Bjackia had spent a lifetime in the service of the public, and in the course of years he had rendered outstanding service to numerous local bodies. Each member of the trust endorsed the remarks of the chairman, one member adding that the Taieri was indebted to Mr Blackie for cheap electric current from the Waipori -supply. The Taieri River Trust is the last public body* on which Mr Blackie lias served.
