CARGILL ROAD. Cargill Road Harriers held their first sports meeting on Hancock Park, a fair muster turning out. In the final of the 100yds F. Harman was first, with E. Manly second and P. Wellington third. In the long jump good displays were given by Thomson and Wellington. It was won by Harman, with J. Manly second, Thompson third. The 880yds was a slow race. E. Manly led for most of the way. In the final lap Wallace took the lead, followed by Wellington and Lumb. This order was maintained to the finish. The hop, step, and jump was won by N. M'Gregor, with F. Harman second and J. M'Gregor third. HANOVER BAPTISTS. Thirteen members who did not travel to Wingatui for the modified marathon ran from the Roslyn Baptist Church. A quick, smart run was held along the Kaikorai Valley road, over the golf links, thence across country to the back of the Reservoir. Later a sprint was staged around the Reservoir. The return journey was made along Highgate, and in the run home Herb. Benfell led from Edward Kelly by several yards. DUNEDIN. The Dunedin Harriers held a short and fast run from the North-east Valley School, under the whistle of Deputy-captain Lorimer. The pack ran up the Valley to Bethune’s Gully and over the paddocks to the Brown House. From there good cross-country work was put in in the vicinity of Mount Cargill, and after breaking a way through the bush the pack emerged on Pine Hill. The road was followed round the hill for some distance, and then down over the hill into the Valley. A short run home was held, in which Weatherston, Storer, and Connel were prominent. NORTHERN. The second sports meeting of the Northern Club was held in a strong southerly, with the track in fair condition. Results:—22oyds ‘ championship: G. Armishaw 1, J. Howie 2, J. Lothian 3. Time, 25sec. From a good start Armishaw, Gates, Howie, and Lothian went to the front. Gates dropped back after 150yds, leaving tho rest to finish. Hop, step, and jump handicap: A. Jackson (Bft Gin), 37ft GJin, 1: R. Haley (9ft), 37ft 3in, 2; R. Stephen (sft Gin), 36ft 44jn, 3. Best jump: N. Henderson (scr), 33ft BJin. One-mile handicap: J. Lothian (syds) 1, R. M'Kinlay (scr) 2, N. Henderson (15yds) 3. Time, 4miu 35sec. From the pistol Haley led, but was soon displaced by Jackson, who led for the greater part of the distance. M'Kinlay, Lothian, Henderson, and Stephen followed in a bunch, all taking the lead in turn. Ip the final straight Lothian took the lead with R. M'Kinlay and N. Henderson in close attendance. Cup points: J. Lothian 114, R. ,M'Kinlay 94. CIVIL SERVICE, ■ Those members of the Civil Service Club not participating in the race today, held a run from St.. Kilda, a fair number turning out. The pack, after leaving the pavilion, rah along Lovers’ lane towards Lawyer’s Head. After reaching the Anderson’s Bay Cemetery gates the pack indulged in some good road work, and a fast clip was then set for home. ST. PATRICK’S. Instead of the usual run the St. Patrick’s Club staged a handball tournament at the Christian Brothers’ High School, some very close and interesting games revealing that members have not lost much of the form of their school days when they were regular players of the game. The first round, which resulted in fairly easy victories in all games, was 11 and 1 game ball, the second round being the same, and the third fifteen and two game balls. First round results were as follow:—F. Hall defeated J. J. Daly game-9, W. T. Ryan defeated J. Hartstonge game-3, H. M'Donnell defeated T. Robertson game-2, P. Wilson defeated P. Porter game-9, W. C. M'Donnell defeated H. Malthus game-6, J. Hamilton defeated M. Hall game-8. The second round reMalthus game-8. The second round resulted in wins for Ryan and Henderson by game-3 and game-0 over H. M'Donnell and Wilson; while F. Hall and W. C. M'Donnell had byes. In the third round the best game of the day was played, that between F. Hall and W. C. M'Donnell. At one stage the score stood at 6-1, and when Hal! was 12 his opponent had scored only five, but by dint of difficult serving and determined play M'Donnell added seven more points before conceding another, but after an exciting game Hall won game-14. Henderson was the harder hitter in tho other game, which lie won game-7. Hall decided not to contest the final with Henderson, who was declared the winner. Those not competing went for a short run under the whistle of Captain Daly, those prominent being C. Airey and R. Carroll.
