(Received July 6, at 1 p.m.) TJie sentences of life imprisonment and other lesser terms on 131 members of the Mafia gang were quashed by the Court of Cassation on the ground of irregularity in choosing the jury. A retrial has been ordered. [After a trial which extended over a year 131 members of the Sicilian Mafia wore found guilty on June 23, 1931, ol the crimes of . murder, blackmail, and robbery between 1910 and 1926. This represented the final clearing up of the Mafia. When the verdicts were, announced the prisoners, who were in an iron cage indulged in abuse in four languages. Fifteen of them were sentenced to imprisonment for life, nine to thirty years, 14 to twenty-five years, sixteen to fifteen years, and seventyseven to ten years or less.]
