Several telephone instruments and a London telephone directory were recently sealed up in a casket and placed under the foundation stone of the new L. i don telephone headquarters. If London ' mild ho destroyed or submerged by the sea and come up again, men of a future civilisation will be just as much interested in digging out present-day history as present antiquarians are in digging out the secrets of ancient civilisation. The enormous building will house about 2,000 workers, and have huge switchboards on six of its nine lloors.
