CENTRE OF INSTABILITY

GRAVE POSITION IN CENTRAL EUROPE BRITISH INDUSTRIES FEDERATION'S FORECAST Pre»i Association —Bj Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, May 3. (Received May 4, at 9 a.ra.) The business forecast of the federation of British Industries for the current quarter says;— “ The most serious centre of instability is still Central Europe, where the existing economic structure appears to be doomed beyond recall. Britain, thanks to the forsaking of gold and the new tariff, is becoming master of its own destiny. The Ottawa Conference and the agreements, which will doubtless be subsequently negotiated with other countries should servo to consolidate the sterling bloc and the intertrading areas, and also help to end the fall in prices, bat progress in these directions is bound to be slow. The situation elsewhere continues to deteriorate. Those hoping that a way out will be found by concerted banking action to raise prices to the 1929 level will be bitterly disappointed.”
