MAORI CHOIR
The Rev. A. J. Seamer’s Maori Choir has had a most successful tour of Central Otago and Southland. Tho local Maori interest n the visit of the choir to Dunedin is icry keen, not only because of tho qudity of tho programmes given by the cioir, but also because each member of the choir belongs to some prominent Ilaori family, and each represents some Particular tribe. Tho following are the names of tbo leading members, with the districts from which they como in pannthesos;—Te 1 Aho-o-to-rangi Pihama (Waikato), Paikea Toka (.Kaipara), lone Woreta (Manawatu), Te Uira Tiieao (Kawhia), Hohepa Tutawhiao -Southland), Sister Mario Ellison (Otigo), Airini Uereta (Chatham Islands); Wanairangi Tqka (Taranaki), Ripeka'Karamaina (King Country), Rang! Tavhai (Hokianga), and Raiha Pihama (Taglan). Dunedin citizens are entertailing the members of the choir during their stay in this city, and tho Mnoriicbiefs and chieftninosses speak very lighly of the hospitality accorded thcti. None of tho members of the choirreceives any salary. As one of the saior members remarked: “ Our servio is a voluntary contribution, and is, ifter all, but a small return for tho great work the church has done and i. doing amongst our tribes,” The c.hoirwill give a concert in the Town Hall fi-morrow.
