Kidson), supplied the following at noon to-day ;—The indications are for south-easterly winds, moderate to strong and freshening at times; weather probably cold and changeable, with some showers, mainly on coast; barometer rising; tides good; seas rough. ARRIVED.—May 1. Mataroa, s.s. (7.40 a.m.), 12,333 tons, J. H. Gaskell, R.N.R., from London and Southampton via Curacao, Panama, and northern ports. —May 2. Holmglen, m.s. (2.10 a.m.), 430 tons Mead, from New Plymouth and Wellington. SAILED.—ApriI 30. Orepuki, s.s. (6.5 p.m.), 545 tons, M'Kenzie, for Wanganui via ports, j —May 2. / Waimarino, s.s. (3.15 a.m.), 3,067 tons, Prosser, for Auckland via ports. The Orepuki sailed on Saturday night for Wanganui via ports. The Waipiata is to leave Wellington to-morrow for Lyttelton and Dunedin, being due at this port on Thursday to unload and sail the same day for Bluff. She is to return to Dunedin in time to load out on Saturday for Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, and Auckland. In continuation of her voyage from Grey mouth and Westport, the Kaponga leaves Wellington to-morrow for Lyttelton, Timaru, and Dunedin. She is due here on Friday, and after unloading coal, is to load and sail the same day for Westport direct. The Kini loads at Westport to-mor-row for Bluff and Dunedin. The Gale is due here on Wednesday to load for Oamaru, Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, and Wanganui. The Holmdale is timed to sail tonight for Oamaru, Timaru, Lyttelton. Wellington, Picton, and Wanganui. MATAROA IN PORT. The Shaw, Savill steamer Mataroa arrived at Port Chalmers yesterday to discharge cargo for Dunedin from London. She is to. sail about Wednesday for Bluff to put out the rest of the cargo. RANGITANE TO LOAD. The New Zealand Shipping Company’s liner Rangitane, which is due at Port Chalmers about May 25 to discharge London and West Coast- of England cargo, is now scheduled to load here for London. NORFOLK’S LOADING. Coming out from Glasgow in ballast, the Federal steamer Norfolk is to load at New Zealand ports, but the only movement in her itinerary that is known at present is a call to Port Chalmers about May 31, when she will load for London. WAIKOUAITI’S LOADING. The Waikouaiti, from Bluff, was due at Sydney to-day. To-morrow she loads at Newcastle, and on Wednesday she goes back to Sydney for general cargo for discharge at Bluff, Dunedin, Timaru, Lyttelton, and Oamaru. She is due hero about to-morrow week. WAINUI LATER NOW. Heavy weather in the Tasman is delaying the Union Company’s Wainui on the trip from Melbourne, and she is now expected to reach Bluff to-morrow morning. The vessel will he later coming to Dunedin, and is to sail from this port on Wednesday for Lyttelton, Wellington, Bluff, and Melbourne. HOLMGLEN’S FIRST VISIT. . Making her first trip to this port, the coastal motor ship Holmglen arrived this morning from the north to load cargo for Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, New Plymouth, and Waikato. The Holmglen was purchased by the Holm Shipping Company to replace the Progress, and was then known as the Argus. The Holmglen was built in Foxhal, Holland, in 1928. She is a steel vessel 137 ft long, 26ft beam, and lift deep, and is of 430 tons gross and 270 tons not register. The propelling machinery consists of a havy Benz motor engine of 250 horse-power, widely drives the vessel at a speed of from eight to nine knots. She is fitted with electric light and the latest submarine signalling device. The ship was purchased in Penzance. The vessel was to sail this afternoon for the north.

ARDENVOHR AT DUNKIRK. The Ardenvohr, which left Bluff on March 18, for, Dunkirk, via Dakar, arrived at Dunkirk on Thursday morning. PORT HUNTER LEAVES HALIFAX. Cabled advice has been received that the C. and D. Line steamer Port Hunter left Halifax on April 25. She left Wellington on March 22 for Halifax and London via tho Panama Canal. PORT PIRIE AT LONDON. Cabled advice has been received that the C. and D. Line steamer Port Pirie reached London on Tuesday. She left Wanganui on March 7 for London, Cardiff, Avonmouth, and Liverpool via Cape Horn and Montevideo. MONOWAI LEAVES PAPEETE. Cabled advice has been received by the Union Company that its liner Monowai, from Sydney and Wellington, loft Papeete at 6 a.m. on Tuesday for San Francisco, where she is duo on May 5. NIAGARA LEAVES VANCOUVER. Tho Union Company’s liner Niagara left Vancouver on May 27 for Honolulu, Suva, Auckland, and Sydney. She is due at Auckland on May 16. OPAWA FROM LIVERPOOL. The New Zealand Shipping Company’s Opawa is to sail from Liverpool under Federal agency on May 14 for Auckland, Napier, Wellington, Lyttelton, 1 Dunedin, and New Plymouth. She is due at Auckland about June 22. AORANGI LEAVES SYDNEY, Cabled advice has been received that the Union Company’s motor liner Aorangi from Sydney arrived at Auckland this morning. She will leave there again to-morrow for Suva, Honolulu, and Vancouver. WITH NEW YORK CARGO. The Armadale is timed to leave Now York on May 22 for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. She is due at Auckland about June 25. THE PORT GISBORNE. The Port Gisborne was to sail from New York yesterday with cargo for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. She is due at Auckland about May 29. THE PORT HUNTER. The O. and D. Line steamer Port Hunter is to sail from London on May 25 for Suva, Dunedin, Lyttelton, Bluff, and Timaru. She is due at Dunedin about July 3. MAKURA FOR OVERHAUL. The Royal Mail liner Makura arrived at Wellington from San Francisco via Papeete and Rarotonga this morning. After landing her passangers, mail, and cargo she will be withdrawn from commission at Wellington for overhaul and survey. Passengers, mail, and cargo for Australia will be transhipped to the Maunganui, which will leave Wellington for Sydney next Thursday. At Sydney the Maunganui will transfer to the Pacific mail service, and will leave Sydney for San Francisco, via Wellington, in place of the Makura on May 12. PERSONAL. Mr J. Joyes, who has been on holidays at Sydney, has joined the Ngatoro as second officer, relieving Mr J. H. Ibbotson, who is awaiting orders at Sydney. Mr T. Stevenson has been on sick leave at Sydney, and has rejoined the Talune as third officer. Captain M. Holm is at present in command of the Port Waikato. Captain Copland has transferred from the Holmglen to the Holmdale. Captain K W. Kanerva is now in -’ommand of the John. Captain Mead has transferred his command from the John to the Holmglen. Mr V. Baker, formerly second officer on the Holmdale, is now chief officer on the John. Mr L. B. Shepherd has joined the Holmdale as second officer. NAVIGATION WARNING. [Pan United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, May .. The Secretary of the Post and Telegraph Department has received the following report from the radio station at Auckland: — The following navigation warning was intercepted from the Adelaide Radio Station at 9 p.m. : —“ Shipmasters are warned that the barque Huogomont, dismasted, and proceeding under lower sail, was sighted at 7 a.m. on April 29 in latitude &5.63 'outh., longitude 135.40 east. They are requested to inform the Huogomont, if sighted, as follows Your owners instruct, through Messrs Crosby, Mann, and Co., that you are to proceed to semaphore anchorage; do not incur expense of towage salvage. shipmasters are further requested to ask the master of tho Huogomont if his lifeboats are intact and in a seaworthy condition, and report the results.” VESSELS IN WIRELESS CALL.
