OLYMPIC TRIALS

[Per United Press Association.] WANGANUI, April 29. The Olympic trials were held at Cook’s Gardens this afternoon in a •gusty, cold wind. C. E. (Don) Evans, paced by two runners, returned Imin 59 3-ssec for 800 metres (874yds 2ft B|in). The pace was even throughout, but the track was leaden. The kilometre cycle race resulted as follows;—H. R. Dwight (Auckland) 1, R. Ulmer (Wellington) 2, L. Roberts (Wellington) 3. Time, Imin 30 l-ssec. R. H. Foubister (Auckland) took the first distance, but did not finish. Won by the length of a machine, the same distance between second and third. The winner made a great final sprint. The time trials ridden over the same distance (1,093yds Ift 10iin), each man riding unpaced. resultedUlmer, Imin 17 l-ssec and Imin 18 3-ssec; Dwight. Imin 21see; Foubister, Imin 21 4-ssec and Imin 25sec; Roberts, Imin 24 3-ssec and Imin 26 l-ssec. The officials present were Messrs R. W M'Villv (president of the New Zealand Council), V. Hugo, and S. Feeder (members of the council), and J. Stalker (a member of the Cycling Council).
