CRICKET ASSOCIATION
MEETING OF GENERAL COMMITTEE A meeting of the General Committee of the Otago Cricket Association was held in Mr F. S. Wilson’s board room last night, the president (Mr J, M. Fraser) presiding. ■ It was decided to write to Miss Garrett and thank her for the manner in which she had looked after the members of the Canterbury girls’ cricket team during their stay in Dunedin. A letter was received from Mr Frank Williams stating that at a meeting oi the committee appointed to award the Wycherley bowling trophy it had been decided that Mr Badcock should be the holder of the trophy this season. It was pointed out that Mr Badcock was a resident professional cricketer, and' was therefore eligible to compete for the trophy. Non-resident professionals would not, however, be eligible to compete. The town clerk (Mr Lewin) wrote stating, with reference to the account rendered the association for the sum of £167, covering the rent of wickets applied for by the association during the past season, that the charge had been considered by the Reserves Committee of the council, and that it had been decided to meet the association to the extent of reducing the account by £ls on the present occasion. Mr Lewin pointed out that the reduction was made solely . for the reason that some sowing had been effected by the council by the use of relief labipur in connection with the preparation of the grounds.—lt was decided to thank the council for its reduction in the charge. A letter was received from the Otago High School Old Boys’ Society forwarding a donation of £5 6s to the coach fund as a slight appreciation of the benefits the school had received from Mr Badcock’s coaching.—Received with thanks.
Mr W. W. Maekersy also wrote forwarding a donation to the coach fund. The Canterbury Cricket Association forwarded a cheque for £BB 10s 3d, proEortion of the gate from the Canter-ury-Otago match due to the Otago Association. The total receipts came to £390 8s 3d, and there was a balance of £295 Os Bd. The Canterbury Association took £l9l 15s Sd, and the New Zealand Cricket Council £l4 15s. _ The receipts were allotted on a basis of 65 per cent, to Canterbury, 30 per cent, to Otago, and 5 per cent, to the council.—lt was decided to write and thank the Canterbury Association for the manner in which it had kept down expenses and thus increased the amount available to the associations.
The secretary reported that the general account stood at £l4 ss, and the coach fund account at £49 18s.
