Forecast. The Dominion Meteorologist (Dr E. Kidson) supplied the following at noon to-day;—The indications are for variable and moderate breezes, moderate northerly prevailing- later; there is a prospect of fine weather, days bright and nights cold; barometer little movement; seas smooth, tides poor.

Opihi, s.s. (5.40 T'.if:.), 1,117 tons, to- .New 'Plymouth via, ports. "y. ■' ' The J~bn sailed yesterday afternoon for Waikato via Timaru and New Plymouth.

The Opihi, which left last night for Oamaru, Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, Nelson, and New Plymouth, is duo back at this port to load for the same ports on April 26. The Canadian Cruiser was expected to sail to-day for Melbourne. The Waipiata is now to leave Bluff at noon on Monday for Port Chalmers, where she is to land wool on Tuesday for transhipment to the Port Napier. The Waipiata will then come up to Dunedin to load and sail the same day for Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, and Auckland.

Next Friday the Pooita is to leave Wellington for Dunedin. She will load cargo here on the 26th for Oamaru, Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, Napier, and Gisborne.

The Orepuki is due to-morrow from tho north to load and sail on Monday for Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, Picton, and Wanganui. THE FERRY SERVICE.

The Rangatira, from Wellington, arrived at Lyttelton this morning at twenty to 7, and passengers and mails caught the south express. PORT NAPIER’S LOADING. At 7 o’clock this morning tho Port Napier left Wellington for Port Chalmers, where she is due to-morrow to load produce and wool for Home. She is to leave on Tuesday evening for London via Cape Horn and Dakar. NORTHUMBERLAND DUE MONDAY. The New Zealand Shipping Company advises that the Northumberland is duo at this port on Monday from Auckland for final loading. She takes on apples, wool, and meat here,-and is to sail on Thursday for London via Montevideo and Dakar. WAIKODAITI FROM AUSTRALIA. The Union Company’s Waikouaiti arrived at Bluff this morning from New-

castle, Sydney, and Hobart. She is to leave the southern-port this afternoon for Dunedin, and is to sail from here on Tuesday for Lyttelton, Timaru, Bluff, Newcastle, and Sydney. PENYBRYN AND WIRRAL. It is hoped to be able to despatch the Wirral from the Ravensbourne wharf at daybreak to-morrow, in which case the Penybryn, from Nauru Island via Lyttelton, will berth to discharge phosphate. If the Wirral does not get away the Penybryn will come to Dunedin to wait until the berth is empty. From Ravensbourne the Penybryn will go to Port Chalmers for further discharge. AORANGI AT SUVA. The Union Company’s motor liner Aorangi, en route from Vancouver via Honolulu, was due at Suva on Thursday morning. She was to leave there again that day for Auckland and Sydney, and is due at Auckland to-mor-row. TAIROA LEAVES BALBOA. Cabled advice has been received by the Shaw, Savill Company that the Tairoa, in ballast from Glasgow to Lyttelton, cleared Balboa on Tuesday afternoon. She :s due at Lyttelton on May 4 to commence Jier Homeward loading.

THE MAKURA. The Union Company’s 11.M.5. Makura was scheduled to leave San Francisco on Wednesday for Papeete, Rarotonga, and Wellington. She is due at Wellington on May 2, and will withdraw from the service and lay up fop annual overhaul and survey. Her place will be taken for one round trip by the Maunganui. FROM THE ISLANDS. The Union Company’s Tofua, which' arrived at Auckland on Tuesday from Fiji, brought the following passengers: —Mr G. Bryan, Miss E. Barkley, Mr J. Ball, Miss J. M. Ferguson, Mrs G, G. Hjorring, Mr S.
