Miss Kelsey left on Tuesday for Christchurch, where she will be the guest of Miss D. Allen. Mrs A. E. Phillips, of Sydney, who has been spending a holiday in Dunedin as the guest of her uncle, Mr D. E Theomin, started on her return to Australia on Tuesday. Mrs J. A. Lochore, widow of the Methodist clergyman who died recently, loft Dunedin on Tuesday to reside at Otaki. Mr and Mrs J. 0. H. Tripp, “ Dlen Cory,” Kurow, arrived in Dunedin this evening and will bo the guests of Miss Ulrich, Cumberland street, over Easter. Mrs W. R. Cameron, Christchurch, arrived in Dunedin on Monday, and is the guest of Mrs A. C. Cameron, Grendon street. Miss Mona Melton, of Winton, who was the guest of Mrs J. G. Young, Maori Hill, has returned home. Mis A. G. Melville returned on Monday from a visit to Christchurch and H'anmer. Mrs J. A. Jenkins has returned to Dunedin from a visit to Auckland, where she accompanied her husband to the medical conference. Miss Ensor left Dunedin on Tuesday for Gisborne, where she will attend the wedding of Miss Phyllis Humphreys. Mrs Norman Speight, who is visiting Hawera, is the guest of her sister, Mrs Herbert Caselberg. Miss Clara Low left on Tuesday on a visit to Auckland. Mrs G. Erenglcy and Miss Maureen Frengley, Christchurch, left during the past week en route to England and Ireland. Mr and Mrs Lionel Stephens (Wellington) arc the guests of Mrs J. C. Stephens, Clyde street. Mr and Mrs W. Garrett left on Tuesday for Auckland. Mr and Mrs W. J, Bardsley, who returned on Tuesday from a tour abroad, are the guests of their daughter, Mrs Hugh Speight, “The Summit,” Sheen street, Roslyn. Mrs Leslie Wilson left Dunedin on Tuesday to spend Easter with relatives in North Canterbury. Miss N. Brewer, Gisborne, is the guest of Mrs Douglas Brewer, .Merlin street. Mrs Gerald Fitzgerald was “at home ” on Tuesday afternoon at the Otago Women’s Club to a number of guests. The dining room, where tea was served, was attractively decorated with bowls of roses and late summer blooms. The members of the Dunedin Free Kindergarten Association ga\m a very cheery morning tea party on Saturday in honour of their president, Mrs D. Phillips, who loaves at the end of the month on a visit to Melbourne. Mrs R. A. The Musselburgh League of Mothers held the annual meeting on Tuesday, when a largo number were present in the Guild Room of the St. Kilda Methodist Churcii. Queen’s Drive The Rev. P, Paris and Mr Shileock personally attended to welcome the members. Mr Shileock spared no pains to secure the comfort and supply the needs of the branch in the new cpiarters. Members were delighted to have Mrs J. G. Begg present after her long illness, and regretted' that her health necessitated her resigning the presidency. Mrs Bennett had provided special bouquets, which she presented to the retiring president and lion, secretary. The following office-bearers were elected; —Preskfent. Mrs Denton Leech, J.P.; vicepresident. Mesdames Abernethy, Drain, Howatt; lion, secretary-treasurer, Mrs Caddie. The next meeting is to be a social one, affording opportunity for members, new and old, to meet each other.

Miss Muriel Lane was hostess at a morning tea parly on .Saturday at the Tudor Hall, the guest of honour being Miss Lyall lianv,., who is to be an Easter bride. Those present were Mesdames E. Lane. The Orkney and Shetland Society field its annual social and dance in the O.K. Cafe on Saturday last, there being a large number of members and friends present. A feature of the evening was the performance of the choir, under the baton of Miss R. Baxter. The choir items were ‘ There Was a Lad,’ ‘ The Angelas,’ from ‘ Maiitana,’ and ‘ Bonnie, Bonnie Isles,’ written and composed by a member of the choir, Mrs Isabel Harpnr, who is well known in Dunedin as a successful song writer. Sirs Harpnr rendered the solo part of ‘ Bonnie Isles,’ the enoir joining in the chorus. During the evening Miss Baxter was heartily thanked for ner good work in bringing the choir to such a standard of perfection.

Miss Radelilfo Taylor returned on Tuesday from the Trained Masseurs’ Conference at Auckland. On the way south Miss Taylor visited Rotorua, Wairaki, Lake 'lanpo, and the Chateau Tongariro, while at the last, named place she was successful in climmng to the peak of Mount Ruapehu.

In order to raise funds for “ The Rangers,” in connection with the Girl Guide Association, Miss Ina Clarke organised a most successful bridge party in the Guide rooms, Princes street, on Tuesday evening, the following making up tables: —Mesdames R. Mrs Parshali, the wife of Air Horace Parshali, and daughter of Lord Bledisloe, gave birth to a son at 5 Allen’s Mansions, Kensington, on February 3. The infant is Lord Bledisloo’s first grandchild.

The first monthly mooting of the Palmerston Saravabi Club was held on March 17, when an enjoyable programme was presented. Mrs Wedge presided. The story of the solos in the 1 Peer Gynt ’ suite was read by Miss Guffie and illustrated by Miss E. Sheat (‘ The Death of Ase ’), Miss D. Whittlostone (‘ In tho Hall of the Mountain King’), Mrs Wedgo (‘Carnival Scene’ and ‘ Snlveig Song’), Miss Nellie Pichett (' Wedding Day ’), Miss Mabel Stent (‘ To the Spring ’). Songs were rendered by Miss Irene Whittlestone (‘A Russian Lament’). Mrs Crockett (‘ By tho Waters of Minnetonka’). and a piano solo (‘The Rustic of Spring ’) by Miss BennctL A literary competition brought an enjoyable evening to a close.

The final judging for tho cup presented by tho Gardening Circle of tho Otago Women’s Club was completed last week. This year’s entry has constituted a record, and the interest taken in the gardens is, if anything, keener than formerly. The prize gardens reflect great credit on those responsible for their upkeep, and the judges are confronted by an increasingly difficult task each year, as there is sometimes very little separating the winifers from tho others. Tho judges (Mrs C. Shiel, Mrs Lee Smith, anl Miss Martin) have made the following awards:—Balelutlia. and Port Chalmers (equal) 1, Allanton 2, Fairlie 3. For the small gardens: Sawyers Bay 1, Stirling 2, Wnitahnua 3. First-year gardens: Orari 1. and Waipiata 2.

A very pleasant evening was spent by the members of the Buffalo Lodges and their friends at Cargill’s Castle on Tuesday evening, to celebrate the joint birthdays of three of their leading members—Messrs W. Higginson, R Brown, and D. Hankey. Some eighty guests assembled to do honour to the occasion, dancing, music, and cards being indulged in, whilo a bountiful supper was supplied by the management. The health of the guests of honour was proposed by Mr H. W. Winter in a felicitous speech, in which he made eulogisti ; references to the many services they had rendered to the order, and the high esteem in which they were held by the members. Suitable responses to the toast were made by the recipients, who expressed their appreciation to the largo assembly who had gathered together. During the evening a presentation was made to Mrs Hutton in appreciation of her many services and kindnesses during the past season at the social gatherings held by the order at the castle. A splendid programme of music was rendered by Messrs Carpenter, Isaacs, Bishop, Higginson and R. Brown, while a clever exhibition of acrobatic tumbling was given by Mr M'Gregor, and a step-dance was rendered by Miss Sinclair; the accompanists for the evening were M'ss M.
