SAVOY ATTRACTIONS
In providing entertainment for its patrons the Savoy makes changes at regular intervals, and, in pursuance of that policy, which has been proved sa, successful in the past, a new dance', band, Kenz Savoyards, has been eiw' gaged for the opening of the dancing'; season. The new band is an excellent, combination of six instruments, and its) initial appearance to-night at the sup-] per sessions will be a decided attract; tion. Each of the musicians is a master,of his instrument, and the leader (Mr„ Ken Macdonald) has succeeded in mak* ing an artistic blend, at the same tima preserving rhythm in the playing. The leader is acknowledged to be one of the best saxophonists yet heal’d in Dunedin, and his pianist is an exceedingly; clever player. In preparing for the opening night, the band has been rehearsing the latest numbers assidiw ously. It is an acquisition to the Savoy.; Again to-morrow night the Savoyards will play at the supper dance, which is to be held in the remodelled Somerset Lounge, a cosy, beautifully-appointed hall on the top floor. The decorative scheme has been enhanced during the reconstruction of the lounge, which has, now a big floor space available for.; dancing. There is not likely to be any,.’ congestion on the best-attended nights.Supper will be served, as before, at the tables. The Somerset promises to excel the popularity of the Tudor Hall as a dancing rendezvous. The supper patrons in the Tudor Hall and Warwick Room will bo entertained by that pleasing musical combination, Ted Heaney’s quartet.
