DUNEDIN MEN'S PLIGHT [Fbom Our Parliamentary Reporter.] WELLINGTON, March 15. Basin" his question on an article in the Dunedin ‘ Star,’ Mr Jones (Dunedin South) put an urgent question m the House to Mr Coates (Minister in Charge of Unemployment) regarding tho position of single men who arc unemployed in Dunedin, some of whom had not had work for three months. He asked that steps be taken to provide them with fond, clothing, and shelter. Hr Coates replied that representations for funds for, unemployment re-
lief in Dunedin were met according to the total amount available for allocation, but the plight of single men in Dunedin had not_ been specifically brought to his notice. He had been advised that the single men’s camps m that district still had vacancies. Mr Jones: Only six vacancies. The Alinister: These vacancies remain unfilled. Further steps to .deal with the unemployment situation m Dunedin will be mentioned in a statement which will be made shortly.
