'SPORTING BLOOD'

ENTERTAINING FILM FOR ST. JAMES All lovers of horses will enjoy ‘ Sporting Blood,’ tho special attraction which will he commenced at the St. James Theatre on Friday next. It is, tho biography of “Tommy Boy,” a famous racehorse—but it is not just another racing picture in the accepted sense of the word. ‘ Sporting Blood ’ has been well described as The Black Beauty of the talking screen. It is the romance of a girl betrayed by rogues, and a splendid horse sold to gamblers, and of a boy (played by the popular Clark Gable) who brings them both back to the path of glory. From his birth to his final triumph in the Derby, every step of Tommy Boy’s career is traced, and it is claimed that there has never been a film to equal ‘ Sporting Blood ’ for human interest, thrills, and grandeur. It is a picture that combines all the' entertainment values of tho screen. It has a magnificent cast, headed my the new favourite, Clark Gable, with him being lovely Madge Evans, and Ernest Torrence, J. Farrell M’Donald, Lew Cody, Marie Provost, and many other popular players, to say nothing of Tommy Boy, played by his own inimitable self.

In a perso; .1 note to the management of tho St. James Theatre, a Christchurch resident wrote; “When it comes to a personal opinion, I think that ‘ Sporting Blood ’ is one of the finest pictures L have ever seen. I was delighted with every minute of it. It is outstanding, and cannot be comparedywith other attractions, as it is so different from any that ave ever been produced.” Attached to the programme will be the latest Laurel and Hardy comedy, ‘ One Good Turn.’ The box plans are at The Bristol.
