The quarter-mile should be a wonderful race between the > former Wellington champion, T, Pickering, and the Otago champion, A. L. Price, and the half-mile .and mile should also be splendidly contested races. A. R. Ged- \ des, J. G. Barnes, L. C. M'Lachlan, E. A. Taylor, and J. J. Morris are among the competitors in these events. The ladies’ 100yds has drawn a good entry, and the starters will include Miss M. Barron (ex-Wellington champion), Miss M. M'Lcod (Southland champion), and Miss R. Grant (Otago champion). The hammer throwing should witness a close contest between J. G. Leckie and M. R. Spillane, and the sprints have drawn large entries, and will provide an opportunity of witnessing in competition such good runners as C. W. Pierson, of Invercargill, and H.
