DISARMAMENT
THE GENEVA CONFERENCE BRITAIN'S PROPOSAL

RUGBY, February 24. Sir John Simon, the chief British delegate, at the General Commission of the Disarmament Conference at Geneva this afternoon, urged that the draft convention which had been prepared after five years’ work by the Preparatory Disarmament Commission should be used as the framework for discussions. The proposal was supported by the representatives of France, America, Germany, and Italy. The Soviet delegate asked the commission first to vote on the proposal for complete disarmament. The vote will be taken to-morrow. SOVIET PROPOSAL REJECTED. GENEVA, February 25. (Received February 26, at 9.10 a.m.) The Soviet’s complete universal disarmament proposal was rejected, only Russia and Turkey supporting it.
