HEW dam' ih lower manordurn [From Odr Parliamentary Reporter.] WELLINGTON, February 25. The Minister of Works (Mr Coates)’ has advised Mr Bodkin (Otago Central) that the Government has authorised the construction of a dam in the Lower Manorburn to irrigate Galloway Flat. This dam will be a concrete structure similar to the one recently constructed at Oturehua, and will enable Galloway Flat to be irrigated with water at present running to waste. The work is being undertaken as relief work, and the Unemployment Board will find nortiou of the money. Approximately fifty men will find employment. _ - Mr Bodkin remarked that it was gratifying to find that the Works Department and the Unemployment Board are co-operating in undertaking works of this character, which will add so much to the production of Otago.
