A letter was received from the Dunedin Stock and Station Agents approving of the being held on March 31, and also enclosing a cheque for £7 7s towards the prizes for the export lamb competition.—Left in the hands of the secretary to arrange. The Secretary submitted a report in connection with the export lamb competition, which disclosed entries received from the Clutha A. and P. Society and other districts. It was to be regretted that this interesting competition did not receive more support from breeders, and showed the necessity for making other _ arrangements in regard to the handling of stock. The letter from the Corriedale Sheep Society in connection with the question of unfair shearing was further discussed, and it was decided to communicate with the Southland A. and ’ P. Society and refer the whole matter to the Sheep Committee for report. It was decided that the question of the extension of the Winter Show for another day and the engaginjg of additional accommodation be held over until the next meeting. A letter was sent to Mr J. E. Turner took the opportunity of expressing his thanks to the members of the committee for the support that he had received during his term as president, and said he regretted that he would not have the opportunity of completing his year and presiding at the society’s annual meeting. Mr Turner also conveyed the special thanks of .the officers at the camp at Tahuna Park for the use of the grounds, which they appreciated very much. Mr Turner said he hoped that his arrangements might necessitate a return to the colony, and he hopedthat it would be at a date on which either the Summer or Winter Show was being held to enable him to have an opportunity of meeting members again.—The Chairman stated that the committee fully recognised the value of the services rendered by Mr Turner, and suggested that he be given a letter of introduction to the Royal Society of England, which was agreed to. f Mr H. C. Campbell brought up the question of the society recognising the valuable services rendered both to the frozen sheep 'and to the dairy industry by the late Mr Thomas Brydone. Mr Campbell pointed out that it was now fifty years since the ship Dunedin left with the first cargo of frozen sheep, and it was mainly due to Mr Brydone that this shipment was sent to London, The proposal was strongly supported by Mr Joseph Mosley and ‘others, and after full consideration it was decided that an effort should be made to secure a perpetual cup or trophy for competition for sheep and dairy produce at the Summer and Winter Shows.
